In addition to having 5 years of teaching experience with students ranging from ages 8 to 27 with four different El Sistema-inspired programs in Chicago, Peru, and Alaska, I am also certified to teach cello with Suzuki Book 1. The El Sistema method emphasizes the social growth a child undergoes when they learn to make music with others. It focuses heavily on ensemble experience. More information about El Sistema can be found here. The Suzuki method emphasizes children's natural ability to learn new languages, including music. More information about the Suzuki method can be found here.
I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching with University of Alaska Southeast and finished student teaching at Glacier Valley Elementary School and Thunder Mountain High School in the Spring of 2016. I conducted a twenty-student orchestra at both schools and taught general music classes, in addition to teaching Spanish I classes at the high school level.
